About Spring Valley, Illinois

The City of Spring Valley, founded in 1884, lies in the valley of Spring Creek. Native Americans referred to this territory as “the Valley of the Springs.” We have a rich history of coal mining, and our growth was so rapid that it was once known as “The Magic City.”
